Our Impact

Recent 

  • 27 presentations (2011) to approximately 1,537 youth within the community, both in the summer and during the school year.
  • Worked with approximately 1,249 adults (2011) within the community.
  • 3,387 pieces of literature distributed in 2011 and 93,000 pieces distributed between 1995 and 2007.
  • 2,700 hits on our website (2009).
  • Services to parents, educators and youth: 39 calls and walks-ins in 2011 and 625 walk-ins & 650 phone calls (1997 – 2007) .

History

  • Introduced New Brunswick  to a prevention program for elementary children teaching healthy choices about alcohol, drugs and gambling: “Sense and Nonsense”.
  • Involved in the Respect Program (winter 2009) with the Saint John Police Force. We spoke to all of the grade 9 students in the Saint John area about the impact of substance and gambling abuse.
  • Peer pressure reversal programs (2009) for over 6,000 youth using the “Too Cool For Drugs” Program for youth grades 2-4 and “How to Say No and Keep Your Friends” for youth grades 5-8. (Interactive program teaching social competencies).
  • In-service training for 300 employees Irving Paper (re: adult & youth drug use and services available in our community).
  • Speakers provided for Parent Groups; Community Centers staff and children; schools; church groups; women in the Saint John Regional Correctional Center, Ridgewood, the Saint John Boys & Girls Club and the YM-YWCA.
